Game of Thrones fans have plenty to celebrate: first, news of an upcoming movie release, and now a tantalizing hint of a new collaboration between creator George R.R. Martin and one of the show’s original stars.
Martin recently teased a potential project with Maisie Williams, the actress who captivated audiences as Arya Stark in HBO’s adaptation of his iconic Game of Thrones series.
In a post on his Not a Blog site, Martin recapped a summer trip to London, where he visited classic tourist spots.
But it was a brief note at the end of his post that likely sparked the most excitement among fans.
‘We also got together with Maisie Williams for pizza and pasta, and talked about… well, no, better not get into that, do not want to jinx it. But it could be so much fun,’ the 76-year-old author wrote.
Martin didn’t share further details, so it’s still unclear if the mystery project would connect to the Game of Thrones universe.

Earlier this year, Williams spoke with the UK’s Sunday Times about the sense of loss she felt after the show ended.
Cast as Arya at just 12, she portrayed the character from 2011 until 2019.
‘I was so lost for so long… it brought me a lot of discomfort,’ she explained. ‘It’s hard to even put myself back there and talk about how tough it was… just because I think it’s done.’
The hint comes after news that Warner Bros. has begun laying the groundwork for ‘at least one film’ set in George R.R. Martin’s beloved fantasy world.
While the project is still in its infancy — lacking a director, cast, or script—sources reveal that Warner Bros. is enthusiastic about bringing the rich narratives of the Seven Kingdoms to the big screen, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Initially, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss envisioned concluding the series with a theatrical trilogy instead of the 2019 finale.
Martin himself hinted at the possibility of a movie to THR as far back as 2014.
Despite the mixed reception of GOT’s final season, the show’s immense success has already birthed a host of spin-offs, including HBO’s House of Dragons.

The show recently wrapped its second season and has already been greenlit for a third.
Following this, fans can look forward to A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a prequel inspired by Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, slated to premiere next year.
As fans know, the world of Thrones has dipped its toes into the theatrical realm before, as HBO organized special screenings of pivotal episodes from the original series in select theaters.

In April, Kit Harington, known for his role as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, disclosed that plans for a spin-off sequel focused on his character had been shelved.
The hoped for series starring Kit, 37, as the тιтle character was taken out of active development at HBO/MAX, according to Screen Rant.
In an interview with the outlet, the British actor confirmed the disappointing news about the sequel.
‘I hadn’t really ever spoken about it, because it was in development,’ he explained.
‘I didn’t want it leaked out that it was being developed, and I didn’t want the thing to happen where people kind of start theorizing, getting either excited about it or hating the idea of it, when it may never happen.’

‘Because in development, you look at every angle, and you see whether it’s worth it, and currently, it’s not,’ he said
‘It’s off the table, because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough. So, we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being,’ he stated.
‘There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It’s firmly on the shelf.’
The proposed Jon Snow series reportedly lacked sufficient source material from George R.R. Martin to develop a storyline following the Game of Thrones finale in 2019.
