Ariana Grande knows about “Popular.”

Grande, 31, proved her undisputed authority on the Wicked song after the official Instagram for the upcoming film adaptation shared a lyric video on Wednesday, November 13.

The clip, which featured glimpses of Grande singing “Popular” as Glinda, got one of the lyrics wrong.

“I’ll teach you the proper poise when you talk to boys,” the pink text read, which Grande was quick to correct.

“It’s ‘ploys’ !!!!!! i love you @wickedmovie 🥲🥹,” Grande commented, to the delight of Wicked fans.

Ariana Grande credits her Wicked costar Cynthia Erivo with helping her to “heal certain parts” of herself. Grande, 31, and Erivo, 37, spoke about their friendship in an interview with The New York Times that was published on Wednesday, November 6. “I feel really inspired by her fierce ability to be truthful and protect herself,” […]

“Ariana correcting the wicked account is so funny 😭,” one X user wrote alongside a screensH๏τ of the Instagram exchange.

“Only Ariana could make correcting a packaging mistake look so iconic,” another fan chimed in.

Playing Glinda in Wicked, which hits theaters on November 22, has long been a dream for Grande. In 2011, the pop star tweeted about her aspirations to step into the good witch’s pink shoes after seeing the Broadway show that inspired the film.

“Loved seeing Wicked again … amazing production! Made me realize again how badly I want 2 play Glinda at some point in my life! #DreamRole,” she wrote at the time.

Grande also met Kristin Chenoweth, who originated the role of Glinda on Broadway, when she was just a kid.

“She was maybe seven or eight,” Chenoweth, 56, recalled during a 2019 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “Her mom and grandma brought her [backstage after a Wicked performance] and she sang a little bit of ‘Popular.’ And I thought, ‘Well, you’re pretty good.’”

Grande and Chenoweth went on to become friends, and the OG Glinda has been supportive of Grande taking on the iconic part.

“I’m excited for the world to see just how funny Ariana Grande is,” Chenoweth exclusively told Us Weekly last month, adding that she and Idina Menzel, who originated the role of Elphaba, “can’t wait” to see Grande and Cynthia Erivo reimagine their characters in the two-part movie.

“We’re both really happy for the girls,” she said. “If you’re going to redo something, redo it. And they each put their own stamp on those parts.”

The magic of Grande’s full-circle involvement in Wicked prompted her to go by her full name, Ariana Grande-Butera, in the film’s credits. During an interview with Australian reporter Justin Hill earlier this month, she explained why she wanted to pay tribute to her younger self by using her “little girl name” for the movie.

“I just feel like this experience was such a homecoming for me,” she shared. “I feel like I came home to myself in a lot of ways through what I learned from Glinda [and] from Elphaba. And that was my name when I went to see the show when I was 10 years old, and it felt like a really lovely way of honoring that. It felt really full circle, and it just felt like something I wanted to do.”

Ariana’s brother, Frankie Grande, took a moment to reminisce about the siblings’ history with the musical after supporting the actress at Wicked‘s Los Angeles premiere on Saturday, November 9.

“From the moment I came home from college and told you about this new musical called Wicked after seeing it in previews, to us running backstage with Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel when you were 10 years old at the Gershwin theatre, to you telling me you were being cast as Glinda and we started sobbing on the bathroom floor to this unbelievable premiere moment in Los Angeles,” he wrote via X alongside pictures of himself and Ariana at the premiere. “I am so happy, excited, and overjoyed to say that you are Glinda the good. I am so proud of you and I love you so much.”
