Netflix fans are raving over a ‘gripping’ crime thriller based on a true story which is ‘full of twists and turns’ and have praised the ‘excellent acting and an unpredictable ending’.
Six-part drama, Clean Sweep, first aired in Ireland last year but was added to Netflix last week and has since sH๏τ up the charts to become the fifth most popular programme in the UK.
The show follows a suburban stay-at-home mother-of-three Shelly Mohan, played by Charlene McKenna, as her seemingly perfect life is threatened when her past comes back to haunt her.
When Shelly’s old partner-in-crime, Charlie, resurfaces she retaliates by murdering him in a frenzied attempt to erase her troubled history.
But things get even more complicated when her detective husband Jason, played by Barry Ward, is put in charge of the investigation.

Viewers demanded a second season after it first aired in 2023 and gushed over Charlene McKenna’s ‘outstanding performance’, the ‘intriguing characters’ and ‘unusual plot’.
One review on Rotten Tomatoes said: ‘My husband and I both thought this was a gripping and series with intriguing characters. Storylines and people like winding garden paths – you just wanted to find you more around each turn. Really hoping there is a season 2 – would love to get deeper into the story lines and character stories – surely and fingers crossed there will be.’
One fan wrote: ‘Charlene McKenna delivers another outstanding performance — this time as an ordinary mum with a dark past that comes back to haunt her. Barry Ward is great as her unsuspecting husband.’
