Michelle Yeoh, 62, debuts bold new look as she arrives at starry Wicked premiere in LA

Michelle Yeoh made jaws drop as she displayed her bold new hairdo at the star-studded Wicked premiere in Los Angeles.

The Malaysian actress, 62 — who plays the role of headmistress Madame Morrible in the highly anticipated musical blockbuster — channeled Marylin Monroe as she debuted a voluminous bleach-blonde bob with dark roots on Saturday.

Her glamorous new look is a complete turn-around from her signature medium-length brunette locks. 

While at the premiere, the Crazy Rich Asians star modeled a glitzy black Balenciaga gown with a long train and chic tears as a nod to her witchy character.

She elevated her ensemble with various diamond rings and a bold silver choker necklace as she strutted her stuff on the red carpet.

Some of her co-stars we also in attendance, including the likes of Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Ethan Slater, Jonathan Bailey, Kristin Chenowith and Idina Menzel, among others.

While on the red carpet, Yeoh told E! News that she was ‘so excited’ for the premiere as the film’s release nears.

‘I am so excited to be here. As you know, I haven’t even seen the film yet, so I am beyond excited. And to see all this—thank you, everyone, for showing up,’ she told the outlet.

She also explained that working with co-star Cynthia Erivo — who plays Elphaba, the wicked witch — made her experience on set more comforting and ‘easy.’

‘When you have Cynthia next to you and holding your hand, and saying, “You can do this,” it’s easy.’

She said, ‘When magic happens there’s no rhyme or reason for it. And it just did.’

Just days ago, Ariana Grande — who acts as Glinda, the good witch — confirmed with the New York Times that the cast’s relationship has continued to form new bonds. 

And she claimed she had grown especially close to Erivo.

‘I think that was one of my most cherished parts of this experience,’ Grande said of become close friends with her co-lead.

‘I felt held and like I had a friend every step of the way. I’m really proud of us for how genuinely we took care of each other throughout this whole time ,’ she added.

Erivo agreed that working with the 7 Rings singer taught her to handle her quick rise to fame.

‘She taught me to handle this crazy beast that is emerging success, because I’ve had a measure of it but this is new,’ the Broadway vet expressed.

‘She’s really held my hand all the way through it and wants it for me just as much as I want for myself.’

Wicked will be released in theatres on November 27 this year, and cost a whopping $145 million to make. Shooting for the film wrapped in January.

The musical-fantasy is directed by celebrity filmmaker Jon M. Chu and is a prequel to 1939’s The Wizard of Oz. It explores the Wicked Witch of the West’s (Erivo) close-knit relationship with Glinda the Good Witch (Grande) before Dorothy dropped in. 

Wicked will be released in two parts with the first hitting theaters on November 22 and the second installment on November 21, 2025.
