Greg Davies has defended a major change in Channel 4’s new TaskMaster spin-off as he ‘disappeared’ from screens.
The host is absent from the new series, Junior Taskmaster, as he hands over the reigns to Rose Matafeo with Mike Wozniak as her ᴀssistant.
It sees 25 kids aged between 9 and 11 years-old go head-to-head as they attempt to win the golden head.
However, Greg and the show’s creator Alex Horne decided not to take part in the spin-off because he thought he would ‘scare’ the children.
In an interview with Radio Times, he explained: ‘I probably would be far too scary for children and I wouldn’t be able to moderate myself.’

Greg added: ‘I think Rose and Mike are a great choice and I think that’ll be a great combination.
‘I think the show will be its own show [and] I’m looking forward to watching it, but they don’t need my advice.’
Rose and Mike will appear on screen with the first episode of Junior Taskmaster on Friday November 8.
Channel 4 fans were in for a treat as Taskmaster returned to screens in September after a summer hiatus.
Hosts Greg and Alex welcomed the next batch of bright-eyed celebrities to their BAFTA and National Comedy Award winning hit show.
Joining the duo was comedian and Celebrity Gogglebox star Babatunde Aléshé, comedian and host The Bugle Podcast Andy Zaltzman.
They were also joined by comedians Emma Sidi, Rosie Jones and Jack Dee.
Meanwhile, Alex has become one of the richest hosts on television since the huge success of the comedy show creation.

The 45-year-old created the concept for the notorious Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2010 and managed to score a deal with Dave TV to create a show from 2015.
Alex might co-host alongside the well-known actor Greg Davies but accounts posted by his company, Shakey Productions Ltd, show that he has greatly benefited from the show, leaving him earning £7.5 million in a year.
The father-of-three is now said to be in the same league as household names Ant & Dec and Jack Whitehall.
In 2019, Taskmaster was scooped up by Channel 4 and has since completed 17 successful seasons.
