Former NFL receiver accuses Dak Prescott of quitting on Cowboys

Dak Prescott is likely to be placed on IR after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 9 against the Falcons, and some are questioning his resolve with his team on the brink.

Fox Sports analyst and ex-Packers receiver James Jones called for Prescott to play through the injury while the Cowboys sit at 3-5.

“It ain’t even funny, like, my man [is] quittin’ on these dudes,” Jones said on Fox Sports’ new show, “The Facility.”

“I’ve had a hamstring plenty of times, and I’m back the next week. I’m not no Tyreek Hill. It don’t take no four weeks for you to heal from no hamstring. You’re not Lamar Jackson. You’re not Jalen Hurts. You’re not running. Where are you running to?”

Jones, a former favorite target of then-Packers MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers, suffered multiple lower-body injuries during his career, including a hamstring strain in 2014, according to his injury history.

He played in the NFL for nine seasons, eight of which he spent with Green Bay.

Prescott suffered a more severe hamstring strain than initially believed during the Cowboys’ 27-21 loss to the Falcons, which pushed Dallas 3 1/2 games back of the NFC East-leading Commanders.

While standing on the sidelines in the game’s final quarter, Prescott was caught mouthing, “We f–king suck,” potentially adding fuel to Jones’ belief.

“Basically, put me on ice for four weeks. No fight, no nothing. No, ‘Hey man, I’ll be back in two weeks; I’ll be back in a week.’ This is a hamstring for a quarterback that is not explosive at the quarterback spot.”

Jones shared his H๏τ take amid comments from owner Jerry Jones that Prescott was “likely” being placed on IR, although that has yet to be formally announced by the team.

It is entirely possible that Prescott is fighting hard to be active in the upcoming weeks for his team.

Prescott has seen his mobility fall off a cliff since a debilitating 2020 leg injury.

He averaged 19.04 rush yards per game before the injury, but that figure has dropped to 14.8 since.

Dallas is expected to start Cooper Rush in his stead, while former 49ers’ top draft pick Trey Lance backs up Rush.

Prescott recently signed a mᴀssive four-year $240 million deal, which is nearly fully guaranteed.

The Cowboys host the Eagles and Texans in the next two weeks before facing the division-leading Commanders in Week 13 and then the Giants on a short-week Thanksgiving matchup.
