Garrett Wilson is leaving the worst game of his Jets career behind him

There was no need to wonder how Garrett Wilson felt about his performance in Week 7.

After what was his worst game of his NFL career, causing two interceptions that both resulted in touchdowns during the Jets’ brutal 37-15 loss to the Steelers, the star wideout admitted he was “playing like s–t.”

“That was the reason we lost the game at the end of the day,” Wilson said. “That s–t can’t happen. Can’t happen. Terrible plays. I’ve got to catch a damn ball. I’m playing like s–t right now and I’ve got to fix it.”

But coming into Week 8 against the Patriots, who the Jets beat 24-3 in Week 3, Wilson said he is confident after believing he made the necessary adjustments after the Steelers fallout.

“Yeah, I do. I feel like Step 1 of being better and playing the way you want to is being conscious and being self aware of what you did to put yourself in that position the week previous,” Wilson said after practice Friday. “That’s where it all started, watching the film and being intentional in practice. So, just catching the ball with my body, doing those types of things.

“I think I did a really good job of that this week. I’m as confident as I’ve felt all year and now it’s just about going out there and making sure it translates to Sunday, which I’m confident it will.”

In the closing minutes of the second quarter, a pᴀss from Aaron Rodgers intended for Wilson was intercepted by Pittsburgh cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr.

The Steelers capitalized on the extra possession, going 54 yards for a touchdown to trim the Jets’ lead to 15-13.

And midway through the third quarter, a pᴀss from Rodgers bounced off of Wilson’s chest and into the arms of Bishop, who returned it 41 yards to the 1-yard line before quarterback Russell Wilson plunged in for a touchdown and a 23-15 lead. And the rout was on.

Now Garrett Wilson and the Jets (2-5) are looking to bounce back against the Patriots (1-6) on Sunday in Foxborough, Mᴀss.
