A lost dog was recently reunited with his owner, and the tear-jerking video is melting hearts on social media. Earlier this year, towards the end of June, Zip went missing in the vast greenbelt. The pup has finally been found after spending 69 days in the wild. Let’s take a look at the heartwarming reunion!

The TRAPRS is a non-profit organization in Austin, Texas that specializes in trapping and rescuing lost and stray animals. They took to their Instagram account to share the story of Zip. The organization shared that their team, the pup’s dad, and his run club hiked several miles and spent hundreds of hours trying to find him. As Zip’s dad is an “ultra runner,” he “frequently runs 15-20 miles at a time.” Due to this reason, the team believed that the lost dog “was still out there.”
In another post, the organization shared that the team hiked the trails and searched through communities. They also “set up traps at all hours and monitored cameras all night.” After 69 days since Zip went missing, The TRAPRS received a call on their H๏τline earlier this week about a “skinny stray.” They shared that “the city wouldn’t come out for” him and described his basic physical attributes. The team then “knew” that the canine found was Zip!
After setting a trap and waiting on the “edge of their seats” for several hours, they finally rescued Zip. The team then rushed him to the ER as he was “covered in wounds and scabs.” This is where he reunited with his dad. After he went missing, the canine lost 40% of his body weight — going from 25 lbs to 14. The team was moved as Zip was eager to get to his dad upon seeing him. Following that, the now-weak pup fell asleep in his owner’s arms as he was finally home.
