IT’S the moment all space lovers have been waiting for… it’s Alien Day TOMORROW (April 26).
We’re not expecting to see hundreds of UFOs descending on Earth any time soon, so what is Alien Day – and why is it celebrated on April 26?
Alien Day is an unofficial holiday for fans of the iconic space-horror franchise Alien.
So no, we’re afraid you can’t claim a day off work.
It’s also a big promotional event for the new film Alien: Harvest.
The Alien film franchise began in 1979 with the release of Alien, followed by Aliens in 1986.
Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection followed in 1992 and 1997 respectively.
Some avid fans may have already figured this one out.
Aliens, the 1986 sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1979 cult film, is set on a colonial moon called Acheron.
However, before it was given a proper name, the moon was known as LV-426.
Because of this, Alien Day is taking place on the American date 4/26 – which we would write as 26/4 – April 26.
The first official Alien Day was held in 2016, to celebrate the film’s 30th anniversary.
The Alien 40th anniversary short films are a series of fan-made short films created in ᴀssociation with 20th Century Fox and Tongal to celebrate the original release of Alien.
These terrifying tales will be able to viewed on IGN.
As well as being able to watch the Anniversary Shorts, brand new figures, merchandise, apparel, publications, comics and collectables will be revealed.
