In Minions 3 (2026), the iconic, mischievous yellow creatures return in a brand-new adventure that promises to deliver even more hilarious mayhem, wild antics, and heartwarming moments. Directed by Kyle Balda (who co-directed Minions: The Rise of Gru) and produced by Illumination, this third installment of the Minions franchise expands the universe, bringing even more laughs, new characters, and a deeper dive into the Minions’ journey with their beloved master, Gru.
Plot: Set after the events of Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022), Minions 3 picks up with Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) now fully entrenched as a supervillain with a growing empire of evil. However, his minions are feeling a bit underappreciated and in need of some excitement. Gru has been busy running his empire, but his obsession with his work has created a gap between him and his lovable yellow companions.
Meanwhile, a new and more dangerous threat emerges in the villain world: a charismatic new supervillain, Dr. Vyktor Vile (voiced by TBD), who rises to power with a plan to overshadow Gru’s reign. A former rival to Gru from his younger years, Vyktor is a mad scientist with a brilliant mind and a thirst for ultimate power. He’s capable of creating evil inventions that could throw the world into chaos, and he has a devious army of robotic minions to help him carry out his plans.
When Gru’s plans start to falter due to Vyktor’s growing influence, the Minions decide to take matters into their own hands. In an attempt to win back Gru’s favor and prove their loyalty, they set off on an epic adventure to stop Vyktor’s evil plot. The Minions, in their usual bumbling style, manage to wreak havoc in the most ridiculous ways, from breaking into high-security laboratories to infiltrating Vyktor’s lair.
However, along the way, the Minions realize that their true strength lies not in their chaotic nature or their attempts to impress Gru, but in their deep bond with him and each other. With the world’s fate hanging in the balance, it’s up to the Minions to work together—no matter how messy—to save the day and show Gru just how much they truly mean to him.
