Set several years after the events of the original film, Hidalgo 2 follows Frank Hopkins (Viggo Mortensen) as he is reluctantly drawn back into the world of long-distance endurance racing. 
Hopkins, now living a quiet life in the American West, is approached by a mysterious envoy representing an ancient Arabian tribe. They request his participation in “The Eternal Ride,” a race said to grant its victor untold riches and honor. Intrigued but wary, Frank agrees when he learns that the race is tied to preserving the tribe’s cultural legacy, now threatened by a ruthless warlord.
