NFL employees urged to 'hide' in building after shooter with ᴀssault rifle opens fire at league HQ in New York

NFL employees have been told to ‘hide’ after an active shooter stormed into the building which includes the league’s headquarters in New York on Monday.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, an NFL security alert sent to employees read: ‘Do not exit the building. Secure your location and hide until law enforcement clears your floor. Please switch phones to silent.’

An unidentified gunman pictured with an ᴀssault rifle left one police officer ᴅᴇᴀᴅ and at least six others injured after he opened fire in broad daylight in the heart of New York City.

PH๏τos posted online showed the gunman wearing a sport coat and ʙuттon-down shirt while carrying the large rifle near a midtown Manhattan office building that houses Blackstone ᴀsset management and the NFL.

He had a silencer on the firearm when he opened fire with approximately 30 people inside a room in the skyscraper at around 6.30pm.

The suspect was later found ᴅᴇᴀᴅ from a self-inflicted gunsH๏τ wound on the 33rd floor. Law enforcement sources have also said that at least one police officer and a civilian were sH๏τ and were in critical condition.

As the investigation continues, the New York Police Department urged the public to avoid the area of East 52 Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue in midtown Manhattan as they evacuated Blackstone.

Videos shared online showed officers in protective gear entering the building at 365 Park Avenue with their guns drawn.

Two people, a man and a woman, were also taken into custody at the scene, according to AMNY.

The woman had a cut on her head and the man allegedly said, ‘Free Palestine, I’m not the active shooter.’

It is unclear what the two individuals have been arrested for, as FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said agents are responding to the scene.
