New York Giants make major Russell Wilson announcement

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll has announced that Russell Wilson will be the starting quarterback next season.

Daboll made the announcement on Wednesday morning, the first day of the Giants’ training camp.

‘These guys will be out here competing, but Russ is our starter,’ Daboll said.

It is been a huge summer of upheaval in the Giants’ quarterback room with Wilson, Jameis Winston and Jaxson Dart all arriving through free agency and the draft.

Wilson, a Super Bowl champion and 10-time Pro Bowl selection, has only signed a one-year contract with the Giants.

However, the former Seattle Seahawks star has quickly established himself as a leader and dominant voice in the locker room as the Giants look to turn things around.

In a bid to quickly build connections with his receivers, Russell held throwing and practice sessions with some of his new teammates throughout the summer in San Diego, Los Angeles and Atlanta.

After his nightmare spell with the Denver Broncos, Russell played one year with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He started 11 games and threw for 2,482 yards and 16 touchdowns with five interceptions.

Wilson is already facing calls for him not to be the starter when the Giants open their season against the Washington Commanders in Week 1.

Dart, the first-round draft pick out of Ole Miss, looked exceptional during the team’s offseason activities and looks set for a bright future in New York.
