Donald Trump summoned NFL head coach brothers Jim and John Harbaugh to the White House for a mysterious meeting on Thursday, it has been revealed.
The iconic pair – who are currently coaching the Los Angeles Chargers and Baltimore Ravens respectively – were spotted leaving the West Wing by reporters.
And it was confirmed by White House officials later in the day that the NFL head coaches had indeed met with the president.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Chargers told USA Today that the Harbaugh family had been invited to Washington DC by the president himself.
It is as yet unclear exactly why the president wanted to speak to the coaching duo, but they are expected to field further questions about it when they return to their respective teams for training camp next week.
It is not the first time they’ve visited the nation’s capital for an audience with the president: back in 2013, John and the Ravens were welcomed in as Super Bowl champions.

Jim, meanwhile, headed in for a similar reason in 2015 to meet Barack Obama after his Michigan were crowned national champion.
Jim is soon to begin his second year as head coach of the Chargers, and the rookies are due to report back for training camp in El Segundo on July 12.
John is heading into his 18th season at the helm in Baltimore, with his rookies back in action in Owing Mills, Maryland on July 15.
Trump, meanwhile, has used sports as one of the cornerstones of his presidency so far – regularly getting involved in all manner of organizations.
This week, he will head to the Club World Cup final at MetLife Stadium to take in Chelsea vs Paris Saint-Germain, and he is talks with Dana White and UFC over hosting a huge event at the White House.
