Cleveland Browns' Brenden Bates reenacts iconic 'Happy Gilmore' golf swing...with unfortunate results

Cleveland Browns star Brenden Bates attempted to reenact the iconic Happy Gilmore golf sH๏τ, with his version ending in disaster, as he was sprawled out in the tee box.

The 6-foot-5, 255-pound тιԍнт end tried to walk up to the ball instead of hitting it with his driver while stationary.

Bates starts his approach and puts all his strength behind his drive before missing the ball and awkwardly twisting to the grᴀss.

Bates ended up on his back after doing a full twist in the air, with the torque from his body causing his golf club to leave his hands.

Bates knows he missed up badly on his swing, as he stays lying down behind the tee box for a few seconds as the video ends.

The Kentucky alumnus is attempt to make his first 53-man NFL roster after failing to do so with the Chicago Bears and New York Jets last year.

Bates was viewed as a trendy pick to make the Bears’ roster last season, with a rookie Caleb Williams as the starting quarterback.

It is a little case of deja vu this year, as he attempts to make a roster with a high-profile rookie quarterback responsible for pᴀssing him the ball in Shedeur Sanders.

Bates made headlines late last month by hauling in a tough pᴀss from Sanders and getting both feet down in bounds for a mini-camp touchdown.

His golf game does not appear to be as locked in, unlike Gilmore’s, who has beginner’s luck with three amazing drives in the 1996 cult classic.

Bates does have a tough position battle ahead of him, with David Njoku locked in as the Browns’ starting тιԍнт end.

Also trying to make the team’s roster are Harold Fannin Jr. and Blake Whiteheart.
