NFL star Jimmie Ward's attorney breaks silence on arrest over domestic violence allegations

The attorney for Texans safety Jimmie Ward has denied the domestic violence allegations levied against his client after the NFL star was arrested last week.

Following an alleged incident at his home, Ward was charged with third-degree felony family ᴀssault due to claims he impeded the breathing of the alleged victim, Montgomery County Jail records say.

However, Ward’s attorney Steve Jackson has since broken his silence on the June 12 arrest – saying the 33-year-old will soon be ‘vindicated.’

‘We have been aware of the complaining witness for some time and her actions towards Jimmie Ward as well as another high profile sports figure,’ he told PEOPLE.

‘It is sad that professional athletes and public figures have to endure things like this, but has seemingly become commonplace. But we will continue to thoroughly investigate this woman and her history, and believe that Jimmie will be vindicated.

He continued, ‘We just ask that the public reserve judgment so that we can show everyone that the Jimmie Ward that they all have come to know is the same person and did not do this.’

Police records from Montgomery County Jail say that Ward was arrested shortly after 5:30am on June 12.

He was booked around 6:30am and initially held without bond, though the jail’s website now shows that he is no longer in jail.

Aaron Wilson of KPRC previously reported that Ward was released on $30,000 bail set last Thursday.

Ward, who is entering his 12th year in the NFL, joined the Texans in 2023 on a two-year, $10.5m deal that got extended by a year in 2024.

He played 10 times for the team last year, recording 48 tackles and two interceptions, but his season ended early with a foot injury that required surgery.

The former first-round pick (No. 30 overall in 2014) spent the first nine years of his career with the 49ers.

He played in the 2024 and 2020 Super Bowls that they lost to the Chiefs on both occasions.

In a statement to the Houston Chronicle after the arrest, Texans’ senior director of communications Omar Majzoub said the team was ‘aware’ of the reporting around Ward’s arrest.

‘We are gathering more information and have no further comment at this time.’
