Revealed: The three women taking over Indianapolis Colts after Jim Irsay's death

The Indianapolis Colts have announced an ownership transition from the late Jim Irsay, who died last month, to his three daughters – Carlie-Irsay Gordon, Casey Foyt and Kalen Jackson.

All three daughters have served as vice chairs of the Colts since 2012, with succession plans put in play by Irsay long before his death on May 21.

Each of the three women will take on new тιтles with their elevation into the top job with the franchise.

Irsay-Gordon, Jim’s eldest child and daughter, will become Owner and CEO and will serve as the team’s principal owner, with all three sisters sharing leadership duties.

Foyt, the middle daughter, will become Owner and Executive Vice President, while Jackson, the youngest sibling, will become Owner, Chief Brand Officer and President of the Indianapolis Colts Foundation.

Irsay had been the Colts principal owner since 1997, taking quarterback Peyton Manning in the NFL Draft in his first full year in charge of the franchise.

The Colts are one of only a handful of NFL teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs and Arizona Cardinals, under sole family ownership.

Robert Irsay, Jim’s father, acquired the team in 1972 in a franchise trade with then-Baltimore Colts owner Carroll Rosenbloom for the Los Angeles Rams.

After a dozen years running the team in the Charm City, Robert moved the team to its current home in 1984.

Irsay-Gordon, 44, has officially represented the team for the longest of the trio, starting in 2004. Carlie also handled the day-to-day operations of the team during her father’s previous health-related absences.

Foyt came on board three years later after working for the NFL in London, helping plan the league’s first game outside of North America. Jackson joined the team in 2010.

Under Irsay, the Colts won the Super Bowl in 2007 with a victory over the Chicago Bears. Last year, the Colts went 8-9 and missed the postseason.

This is the second NFL ownership change this year, after the Chicago Bears transitioned to George McCaskey after the death of his mother, Virginia Halas McCaskey.
