BREAKING NEWSNFL star Chris Conley announces shock retirement after a decade in the league

NFL veteran Chris Conley has called time on his career announcing his retirement Saturday at the age of 32.

The wide receiver played 10 seasons in the league, including a stint with the Kansas City Chiefs who drafted him in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Conley most recently played for the San Francisco 49ers, playing 15 games last season, but was left a free agent this offseason.

The wideout announced the news in an emotional statement on social media Saturday, describing his career on the field as a ‘dream.’

‘When i was a kid i wrote down a set of goals,’ Conley posted. ‘On that list was “Play 10 years in the NFL”. Now that this goal has been accomplished it’s time to set sights on something new.

‘The past 10 years have been a dream. Getting the opportunity to play in the league was an honor and whether it was catching touchdowns or blocking for them i truly gave it my all.

‘I cant mention everyone who was instrumental in my growth as a man and player but if you played a part, I extend a heartfelt thank you. To my teammates, training staff, and coaches thanks for the friendship and trust throughout the years.

‘God makes no mistakes and I’m thankful he proved this to me throughout my career. He is more than enough. See you in the next dream.’

Conley entered free agency in March having tallied six catches on 12 targets for 76 yards in the 2024 campaign.

He injured his elbow during the Niners’ final game of the season. However, it isn’t thought that the injury contributed to his decision to hang up his cleats.

The best season of his career came in 2019 when he recorded career-high marks of 47 receptions (on 90 targets) for 775 yards for the Jacksonville Jaguars, while tying a career best with five touchdowns over 16 regular-season contests.

Throughout his 10 seasons in the league, Conley also enjoyed spells with the Houston Texans and Tennessee тιтans.
