Charles Barkley has accused US President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party of only caring about black voters ‘every four years’ before an election.

Barkley, an 11-time NBA All-Star, recently took aim at Donald Trump on his CNN talk show ‘King Charles’, ripping into the former President for suggesting his arrest and mugsH๏τ back in August appealed to the black community.

During a pᴀssionate rant on the show, the basketball legend even threatened to punch anyone showing off pictures of Trump’s now-infamous mugsH๏τ.

A few days on from that tirade Barkley is now turning his attention to Biden and the Democrats, whom he believes are losing black votes because of their failure to back up promises over the years.

‘The reason I think the Democratic Party and Mr Biden, President Biden, is losing black votes is they only care about black people every four years,’ he said when discussing Trump’s popularity with black voters.

‘They come into our neighborhoods and say, “we’re gonna do stuff better, we’re gonna do this, do this, do this.”

‘And then finally us black people are like, “I don’t know, man, other than my ability to dunk a basketball, all my neighborhoods are still the same, our schools are still the same.”

‘And that’s why I think black people are leaving disappointed the Democratic Party.’

Barkley went on to reveal that he has voted for the Democrats in almost every election to date as he felt it would ‘help black people and poor people.’

However, the 61-year-old did admit to voting Republican on one occasion, with former Ohio Gov. John Kasich getting his vote during his failed campaign.

‘But then I’m starting to look like, man, I understand why black people are leaving [the Democratic Party] and want to vote for somebody else,’ Barkley added.

‘Because every four years they come into our neighborhoods and say we’re gonna make things better for you.’

While agreeing with Barkley’s take, American political analyst Van Jones claimed that lower-class white voters have also been let down by GOP candidates over the years.

‘So there’s a poor people problem with both parties,’ Jones said.

On the eve of last week’s South Carolina primary, in which he easily swept aside former U.N. Ambᴀssador Nikki Haley, Trump sparked controversy by suggesting he appeals more to the black community after his recent arrest for trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia.

‘When I did the mug sH๏τ in Atlanta, that mug sH๏τ is No. 1,’ he said at the Black Conservative Federation’s annual Honors Gala. ‘You know who embraced it more than anyone else? The Black population.

‘It’s incredible. Black people walking around with my mugsH๏τs!’

Despite receiving applause for those comments, an incensed Barkley hit out at Trump for insulting black people while threatening to punch any black person showing off his infamous mugsH๏τ.

He told broadcaster Gayle King: ‘First of all, I’m just gonna say this: if I see a black person walking around with Trump’s mugsH๏τ, I’m [gonna] punch him in the face.’

King then interrupted to tell Barkley that he would get arrested himself for ᴀssault, he replied: ‘I will bail myself out and go celebrate.’

Barkley then continued: ‘If I was at that conference I would have got up and walked out. That was an insult to all black people.

‘To compare black history, when we’ve been discriminated against, to his plight – first of all he’s a billionaire, and they’re prosecuting him for stuff he did wrong.

‘Well, some of the stuff is true. They did storm the capital, they did say that the election was stolen. Those aren’t lies Gayle.

‘But to compare it, I would have got up and walked out, because it’s not a fair comparison.

‘He’s a billionaire, he’s had a great life. He’s been President of the United States. To insult black people who have been discriminated against all these years, to put them in the same category… I was just offended.’
