BREAKING NEWSAnthony Richardson aggravates long-standing injury, putting doubt on his 2025 season

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson has again hurt the right shoulder joint – his throwing arm – in an agonizing repeat of the issue that ruined his 2023 season.

As it stands he is sidelined indefinitely, coach Shane Steichen said Thursday. Richardson will miss next week’s mandatory minicamp for the Colts and it is unclear what his status will be when training camp starts on June 22.

‘Not going to put a timetable for training camp on it, but when he does come back, we’ll ease him into throwing and then we’ll go from there,’ Steichen said.

The news paves the way for Daniel Jones to make the starting spot on his own, with the former New York Giants man signing a one-year deal with the team in March.

‘Daniel will get a lot of reps and then we’ll see how it plays out,’ Steichen added.

Jones left the Giants last season midway through a catastrophic year, where his form saw him demoted to the team’s third-choice quarterback.

He was cut, and signed with the Minnesota Vikings as a backup to Sam Darnold for the remainder of 2024 but didn’t play for the team.

The Colts took Richardson with the fourth pick of the 2023 Draft and he was immediately announced as the starter for the franchise.

But injuries have derailed his first two season and threaten to do so once more this time around.

He has already missed 17 games since being drafted by the Colts, with the shoulder issue accounting for 12.
