American flag football star Darrell Doucette has laid down the gauntlet to Tom Brady after it emerged the seven-time Super Bowl winner wants to play at the Olympics.
Last week, NFL owners made the decision to allow their players to compete for the gold medal at the Los Angeles 2028 games, sparking a frenzy across the league.
Daily Mail exclusively reported that Brady, 47, is also keen to come out of retirement to play at the Olympics.
Brady, who will be the ripe old age of 50 when the action begins, wants to be the quarterback to lead Team USA to glory, a source exclusively revealed.
‘He wants a Gold medal. And what better way to remain the GOAT [greatest of all time] and return to the sport he loves, by helping his country win gold,’ an insider said.
‘He knows he would be able to help and excel in that environment and since his life is very much scheduled and has a тιԍнт regimen, so many things could fall into place for him around that time.

‘With the Olympics being in LA, he wouldn’t have to travel far. And it would culminate in one of the best birthdays ever.’
But amid the exciting prospect of watching NFL stars go for gold, Doucette insists Brady and others should not be guaranteed places on the USA roster.
Doucette is the current starting quarterback for the men’s US national flag football team and has claimed he is better than Patrick Mahomes.
The 35-year-old has told the Washington Post that he and his teammates are more than happy to challenge NFL stars for a spot.
He said: ‘This is a sport that we’ve played for a long time, and we feel like we are the best at it and we don’t need other guys.
‘But we all have one goal in mind, and that’s to represent our country.
‘We’re definitely open to all compeтιтion. If those guys come in and ball out and they’re better than us, hats off to them. Go win that gold medal for our country.’
Brady’s 51st birthday will fall on August 3, 2028 – a few days after the closing ceremony on July 30.

He is also eligible to join the Hall of Fame in 2028. And with the induction ceremony generally taking place on the first weekend of August, it would certainly make for a memorable summer for the father-of-three.
The seven-time Super Bowl winner hung up his cleats for a second time on February 1, 2023, insisting to his fans that there would be no further changes of heart.
And, for more than two years, the quarterback has stuck to his word – instead taking up a TV commentator role on Fox Sports worth $375 million over 10 years.
But our source says he has an itch to play in the Olympics.
‘Now, granted, we are a few years removed but nobody should ever tell Tom he can’t do something, and what a story this would be,’ the insider said.
‘Since the NFL wants to make a splash in the Olympics, they can have their own Dream Team, and who better to lead them than the Greatest of all Time!’
