During the excavations in the ancient city of Amastris in the Amastris district of Bartın, a nymph statue, which is thought to be 1800 years old, was found.

In the statement made on the social media account of Bartın Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, “As a result of the Gymnasium Excavation carried out by the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism and Amasra Museum Directorate in Amasra District, a statue of the Nymph (Water Nymph) belonging to the 2nd century AD was found.

With this find, which is very important for the history and cultural tourism of our city, the history of Amasra will be rewritten. The Water Nymph, which has never been similar anywhere before, has already become the symbol of Bartın, the City of Waters.”

The date to which it belongs will be examined in detail

After detailed archaeological examinations of the nymph statue, which is considered to date back to about 1800 years ago, it will be possible to determine exactly which period it belongs to and by whom it was made.
