Purchased in Cairo by Nicholas Tano in 1922, this Egyptian Alabaster goblet is formed and detailed in the shape of a lotus flower.

Both the throne name, “Nefer-kheperu-Re, beloved of Re” and personal name of AmenH๏τep IV (later Akhenaten) are engraved on the side of the chalice, between two cartouches encircling the early тιтulary of the Aten and a cartouche naming AmenH๏τep IV’s Great Royal Wife, Neferтιтi.

Due to “AmenH๏τep” appearing as the namesake of the king, it is easy to suggest that the vessel must have been created early in the king’s reign and prior to the king’s name change to Akhenaten in Year 5 of his reign.
