ESPN NBA reporter Adrian Wojnarowski was a victim of hacking on social media over the weekend, according to multiple reports.

Scammers peddling non-fungible tokens (NFTs) somehow broke into Wojnarowski’s  X (Twitter) account, and posted a link claiming to promote NBA Top SH๏τ – a waning NFT marketplace, where sports fans can buy, sell and trade basketball video clips.

The post was shared with the NBA Insider’s 6.3 million followers as it attempted to lure fans in by falsely stating that a ‘free NFT pack is available to all customers.’

But, the scammers were beaten at their own game while using the company’s name to deceive fans.

The URL link attached to the post was a .org domain instead of .com, which is what NBA Top SH๏τ’s website uses.

NBA Top SH๏τ’s actual X account eventually tweeted a statement, clarifying: ‘There is NO Free Airdrop happening on NBA Top SH๏τ at this time, Please be careful and always double check links.’

Wojnarowski’s tweet was removed from X after about an hour, according to The Verge.

The 45-year-old, NBA reporter has yet to shed light on the hacking incident, as it is safe to ᴀssume that most of his followers understood that it was a trap.

One of them even joked on X: ‘BREAKING FROM WOJ: I’ve been hacked.’

‘Woj getting hacked for a crypto scam was not on my 2024 bingo card not gonna lie,’ said another.
