Giants souring on Shedeur Sanders was never about a ‘bomb’ meeting — here’s what did go wrong

Have you noticed what you haven’t noticed?

Nary a peep from the Giants about Shedeur Sanders.

No team in the NFL spent more time, resources and manpower evaluating and getting to know Sanders. It was no secret the Giants were hell-bent on getting a quarterback up high in the draft. When it came time to actually make their first-round selection, Sanders at No. 3 was nowhere in their thoughts. And, as it turns out, the rest of the league felt the same way, as Sanders slipped and slid away into the fifth round, where the Browns finally took him at pick No. 144.

Clearly, there were alarms that went off inside the Giants facility when it came time to finalize the team stance on Sanders. His descent down their draft board is not a topic that is going to emerge for public consumption. No Giants contributions to the copious Shedeur bashing in the hours and days after the draft. Gag order? Perhaps.
