Pat McAfee offers new theory on Aaron Rodgers' mystery ring after QB sparked marriage rumors at Kentucky Derby

Pat McAfee has offered a wild new theory as to why Aaron Rodgers was seen wearing a mystery ring at the Kentucky Derby: someone proposed to him.

The legendary NFL quarterback sparked marriage rumors after he was seen sporting a piece of jewelry on his left ring finger.

Rodgers, whose NFL future remains up in the air, revealed last year that he is in a relationship with a mystery woman named Brittani.

The 41-year-old was previously engaged to actress Shailene Woodley but sources close to Rodgers insist he hasn’t secretly tied the knot during the NFL offseason.

It is thought that the quarterback could have been wearing a ‘promise ring’, which symbolizes commitment and is often worn before someone gets engaged.

But McAfee has suggested that Rodgers – a regular guest on his ESPN show – may be challenging traditional gender roles after a partner asked if he would marry them.

‘It looked like it was a wedding ring or maybe he got engaged to. Maybe somebody got engaged to him,’ McAfee said.

‘Maybe they flipped the script and said: “Who says it has to be one way to the other?” Maybe somebody got engaged to him and said: “Aaron, will you take this ring and be with me forever?” And Aaron said “yes, I will” and they’ll “I do”-it later… who knows?’

McAfee also wondered whether Rodgers was challenging social convention by simply ignoring the notion of a traditional ring finger.

As revealed by DailyMail.com, the truth behind Rodgers’ new jewelry could eventually emerge on McAfee’s ESPN show.

‘Aaron is a very particular person, and he will make his playing decision within the next few weeks, and if he is married, he will mention that on a future Pat McAfee appearance,’ a source said.
