John Elway’s longtime agent is on life support after a tragic golf cart accident last weekend.
Jeff Sperbeck, a decades-long business partner to the legendary NFL quarterback, hit his head after falling off the back of a golf cart at The Madison Club in La Quinta, Calif., on Saturday, according to a report from TMZ.
The NFL agent was rushed to a nearby hospital and is on life support, per the outlet.
TMZ reported that Sperbeck is still alive, but doctors told the family that “there’s no hope he will recover” from the incident.
The doctors are reportedly “preparing to harvest his organs for donation.”
The outlet added that Elway was also on the cart during the incident and that the Hall of Fame QB called 911.
The two and their wives had attended the Stagecoach music festival earlier that same day, TMZ added.
Sperbeck has worked with Elway since the early 1990s.
He has represented more than 100 current and former NFL players over his three-decade-long career, including Joey Porter, Jim Plunkett and Trent Dilfer.
In 2018, Sperbeck founded 7Cellars, a California winery, with Elway.
Before the incident, Sperbeck was still the acting president and CEO of his athlete representation company, The NOVO Agency Inc., which he founded in 2009, according to his LinkedIn profile.
