Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will not attend the team’s trip to the White House today.
The Eagles are set to meet with Donald Trump at 4pm ET Monday to toast their 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX – a tradition for all American championship teams.
However, the roster will reportedly be missing a number of its biggest stars with Hurts and some teammates set to skip the customary audience with the president.
The missing players are said to be absent due to ‘scheduling conflicts,’ according to NBC News’s Yamiche Alcindor. It is currently unknown which other players will be joining Hurts in his snub of the president.
Just last week, the signal caller had hinted that he could skip the visit to the nation’s capital when asked if he was planning on heading to the White House during an interview with TIME.
‘Ermmmm,’ the Super Bowl MVP said before staying silent, prompting an abrupt and awkward end to the interview.

Earlier this month, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie insisted every player would be given the choice of whether to attend or not.
‘Our culture is that these are optional things,’ Lurie said. ‘If you want to enjoy this, come along and we’ll have a great time and if you don’t, it is totally an optional thing.’
However, there are no question marks over Hurts’ superstar teammate, Saquon Barkley. The running back is practically nailed on to be in attendance after cozying up to the president over the weekend.
Barkley was seen alongside Trump at his Trump National golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey at the weekend and traveled with the President on Marine One.
Inevitably, Trump’s ardent critics were quick to pile in on Barkley as he spent time with the most powerful man in the country and by Monday morning, the Eagles hero had had enough.
‘Lol some people are really upset cause I played golfed and flew to the White House with the PRESIDENT,’ Barkley wrote on X.
‘Maybe I just respect the office, not a hard concept to understand. Just golfed with Obama not too long ago…and look forward to finishing my round with Trump!
‘Now ya get out my mentions with all this politics and have amazing day.’

Head coach Nick Sirianni also previously insisted that he was ‘excited’ to head down to DC, describing the visit as an ‘honor.’
‘Teams that have been able to win championships have been doing that for a long time, and I’m really honored to go and really excited to go,’ he said.
Hurts’ rejection of the presidential meeting comes after months of speculation over whether the reigning Super Bowl champions would make the trip to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue at all.
The team did not visit Washington to celebrate victory at Super Bowl LII in 2018. Trump – then in his first term if office – canceled the event after it emerged that only a handful of players were planning to attend. It came amid his war with the NFL over protests during the national anthem.
But the Eagles accepted an invitation to attend this year, with Lurie explaining: ‘We just felt this is a time-honored tradition being invited by the White House… so there was no reticence whatsoever.
‘To be celebrated at the White House is a good thing. There were special circumstances (in 2018) that were very different, and so this was kind of an obvious choice and look forward to it.’
He added: ‘When you grow up and you hear about, “Oh, the championship team got to go to the White House,” that’s what this is. And so we didn’t have that opportunity and now we do. I think we’re all looking forward to it.’
The Eagles owner insisted their decision to attend did not reflect a wider political stance on Trump.

‘This is really just an invitation from the White House,’ he said. ‘That’s all this is, and we’re not politicizing it in any way. Not for us.’
Hurts was named Most Valuable Player after leading the Eagles to a stunning 40-22 victory over Kansas City in New Orleans.
The quarterback threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another score as Philadelphia denied Patrick Mahomes and Co a historic three-peat.
Last year, meanwhile, Hurts had the chance to meet Barack Obama and the quarterback was full of praise for the former president.
‘An all-time leader, a great presence,’ Hurts said. ‘I guess the word is down to earth.
‘I can only imagine that lifestyle and the different things that come with that… every time I’ve been able to speak with them, be in their presence, it’s always been a fruitful conversation. Nothing aimless about it.
‘I feel left their presence as a better person, a more wiser person. Honestly, I hope to have the same impact on them too.’
