Jaxson Dart emerged as one of the stories of the first round at the NFL Draft when the New York Giants swooped for him – and his mom, Kara, might need to adjust to some newfound fame as well.
The Giants took Abdul Carter with the third pick and then traded back in for their quarterback of the future in Dart, who will likely bide his time behind Russell Wilson in his rookie season.
As the 25th pick was confirmed, Dart turned and hugged his proud mom who appeared to be wiping away tears in a poignant moment while his friends and family erupted into cheers in Utah.
But fans were quick to pay closer attention to his glamorous mother of four, with some joking that the Giants should have drafted her because of how toned she is.
‘Giants should have drafted his mom. Did you see those guns?’ one fan said, while another wrote: ‘Jaxon (sic) Dart’s mom puts in time in the gym. Guns.’
Another fan said: ‘As a friendly Giants fan…I’d like to personally welcome Jaxson Dart’s mom to New York City.’

‘Jaxson Dart’s mom might have just won the NFL Draft,’ said a different observer.
Dart is very close to his family but his mom didn’t appear to be with him on Friday as he flew from his home to the Big Apple to walk into Giants HQ as a player for the first time.
In his time at Ole Miss, Dart occasionaly would say how his mom told him to slide more with the ball.
‘I definitely need to start doing that,’ he said in September 2023. ‘My mom tells me to slide and I should start.’
In early January, Dart said his mom was his inspiration before the team’s mᴀssive 52-20 win over Duke Blue Devils, saying: ‘I told my mom I was going to leave everything I had on the field and I did.’
Kara herself has a private personal Instagram account but has a separate one that focuses on running and fitness that has been inactive for a few years. She’s also into fashion, and gives Dart advice on his pre-game outfits.
He told GQ: ‘I’ve relied on her for a lot of things in the fashion world. At the same time, I think she gives great input. She worked at Nordstrom growing up, so she’s always been a part of it.
‘My mom’s into it, and she’s done a great job of letting me choose and find things that I like and just giving me options.’
She’ll be spending more time in New York in the coming months and years supporting her son, who now forms a key part of the long-term rebuild for the Giants.

He will work alongside Wilson and Jameis Winston this year, with both veteran quarterbacks on one-year deals in New York.
Former Super Bowl winner Wilson will go into the season as the No.1 starter for the blue side of New York, the team has confirmed.
Wilson sent his new teammate a message of congratulations on X on Thursday, responding to a meme welcoming both Dart and Carter to New York by saying: ‘Congrats fellas!’
Dart and Carter’s arrival alongside Wilson has given a fresh sense of optimism around the Giants ahead of the 2025 season.
Last year, a miserable campaign saw previous quarterback Daniel Jones get cut as the team stuttered to a 3-14 record.
