Donald Trump blasts ‘stupid’ NFL owners for pᴀssing on Shedeur Sanders

Mel Kiper is hardly the biggest name in Shedeur Sanders’ corner.

Donald Trump himself blasted teams for pᴀssing on Sanders in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft in a Truth Social post on Friday in which the Commander-in-Chief praised his father, football great Deion Sanders, and called out the NFL owners who pᴀssed on the prospect.

“What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID?” he wrote. “Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL. He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart! Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness. He should be “picked” IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN. Good luck Shedeur, and say hello to your wonderful father!”

Sanders falling out of the first round was the biggest story of Night 1 of the draft, after he had been predicted to be a top-five pick at one point in time, with ESPN’s Kiper heaping praise upon him throughout the broadcast.

Instead, teams like the Giants and Steelers – both linked to the Colorado quarterback – went in different directions and Sanders entered Friday night still on the draft board.

All eyes will be on Sanders when Day 2 of the draft begins on Friday night as to whether a team will take him or if he’ll drop even further down.

Sanders had been under the microscope leading up to the draft and some anonymous NFL team execs and coaches had made comments about the quarterback prospect being “brash” and “enтιтled” during team visits and interviews.

Deion, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, believed that his son had been so heavily scrutinized due to his last name.

Sanders had hosted a draft party in Texas and the QB prospect remained upbeat when the night came to an end and he addressed the friends and family that had been on hand.

“We all didn’t expect this, of course,” the QB said, via video posted online. “But I feel like, with God, anything is possible. Everything is possible. I don’t feel like this happened for no reason. All this is, of course, fuel to the fire. We all know this shouldn’t have happened.”
