Adrian Peterson arrested for DWI after appearance at Vikings’ NFL draft party

Vikings legend Adrian Peterson was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on a fourth-degree driving while impaired charge before being released early Friday morning in Minnesota, according to TMZ Sports.

Peterson was reportedly pulled over at 3:20 a.m. after going 83 in a 55 mph zone. The 40-year-old former running back was breathalyzed and blew a .14, well above the legal limit of a .08.

Peterson, who was at U.S. Bank Stadium earlier in the evening as a featured guest at the team’s 2025 NFL draft party, was booked at 5:16 a.m. and took a mug sH๏τ at the county jail.

Per jail records obtained by Bring Me the News, Peterson’s bail was set at $4,000 and his court date is May 9.

Fourth-degree DWI is a misdemeanor charge in Minnesota and usually applies to first-time offenders.

Peterson, who last played in 2021, has a spotted legal record.

He was indicted by a grand jury in 2014 on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child and later pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of recklessly ᴀssaulting his son. He was suspended for all but one game of the 2014 season over the incident.

He also got into trouble over defaulting on a 2016 loan and in 2024, had some personal ᴀssets forcibly seized to pay back an owed $8.3 million to DeAngelo Vehicle Sales LLC.

Additionally, Peterson was arrested in 2022 over a domestic violence incident with his wife that caused him to be removed from a plane going from Los Angeles to Houston.

His wife, Ashley, later described the incident as a verbal argument, saying that Peterson did not hit her during the flight. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office dropped the domestic violence charge against Peterson.

Peterson was the 2012 NFL MVP and a four-time All-Pro, finishing his career with 14,918 rushing yards and 120 touchdowns.
