Steelers now the favorite to land Shedeur Sanders in 2025 NFL Draft

Steelers now the favorite to land Shedeur Sanders in 2025 NFL Draft

Shedeur Sanders almost certainly won’t be the first overall pick at the 2025 NFL Draft, but he’s definitely the most newsworthy name in the prospect pool.

Previously thought to be a lock to be both the second quarterback taken, and a top-five pick, there is some smoke coming out of the Mock Draft Universe that Sanders could tumble down the board, opening up the possibility that the Pittsburgh Steelers select him with their first pick all the way down at No. 21.

Todd McShay, one of the most respected NFL Draft experts, now believes Jaxson Dart will be selected before Sanders.

McShay predicts Dart will be selected by the New Orleans Saints at No. 9, which could lead to a precipitous fall for the former Colorado Buffalo since there aren’t many teams in the market for a quarterback.

It may sound like a stretch that Sanders would fall from a potential top-three selection to outside the top 20, but there’s enough logic that one sportsbook has installed the Steelers as the favorite to pick Sanders.

DraftKings Sportsbook now lists the Steelers as the +190 favorite to select Sanders, just ahead of the Browns (+200) and Giants (+215).

The Saints, once one of the favorites to land Sanders, have drifted out to +550 odds.

BetMGM Sportsbook has the Steelers and Browns as co-favorites at +250.

Betting on the NFL?

NFL Draft odds are notoriously volatile, and move drastically on news and soundbites from experts like McShay, so it’s not a surprise to see the market on a polarizing player like Sanders shift dramatically in the leadup to Round 1.

At this point, it seems like Sanders could land anywhere, but one thing that does feel safe to predict is that this won’t be the last time we see his odds shift before 8 p.m. ET on Thursday.
