Kadarius Toney responds after retirement rumors run wild on social media

Kadarius Toney appeared to respond to internet rumors that he was retiring, which started to surface Thursday evening.

The former Giants first-round draft pick and Florida Gators star was alleged by users on social media to have said during an Instagram Live that he would be retiring from the NFL and wanted to be viewed as a rapper.

The rumor circulated online and was amplified by several popular aggregator accounts that cover football news.

However, Toney took to his Instagram account to seemingly shoot down the retirement speculation.

“Goofies on the net hollerin I’m retiring,” Toney wrote on his Instagram story. “Just want klout. Ain’t speakin on the [poop emoji] nomo.”

He added: “Love da attention for my musik tho. It’s been a pᴀssion.”

It remains unclear if Toney had even said that he wanted to retire in the first place.

The agency that represents Toney did not immediately respond when asked for comment by The Post.

Toney, 26, has been releasing rap music for a number of years under the name Yung Joka, with his last album being released in 2024.

While Toney had been a standout at the University of Florida, his NFL career has had its ups and downs.

He has never had much consistency after the Giants took him 20th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, and over the course of his career, he’s recorded just 760 yards for three receiving touchdowns.

Toney was traded to the Chiefs during the 2022 season and played a part in their Super Bowl championship in 2023 with a key punt return and touchdown catch in the fourth quarter.

He spent last season with the Browns, playing three games before he was released after muffing a punt and picking up a taunting penalty during a game.

He was then arrested on Feb. 6 on charges related to an alleged ᴀssault.
