It appears there is some truth to the claims of a feud between Bill Belichick and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. The former head coach has reportedly all but confirmed it with a bitter snub.

Belichick, 72, served as Kraft’s head coach in New England for 24 seasons, leading the Patriots to six Super Bowl тιтles. 

And in his new book, ‘The Art of Winning,’ which is set to be released next month, the legendary NFL coach detailed his 24-year tenure with Tom Brady and co. 

Yet, over 289 pages, Belichick fails to name his former employer, according to the Boston Globe’s Dan Shaughnessy. Not once. 

In fact, Belichick thanks 363 people in an exhaustive ‘Acknowledgements’ section, including his ‘idea mill and creative muse, Jordon Hudson’ but Kraft’s name fails to appear among them. 

Shaughnessy did acknowledge that Belichick appeared to reference the Patriots owner in one excerpt but still didn’t mention him by name. And even then, it didn’t seem the most flattering.

‘Bill’s lone reference to Kraft in this book appears to be this: ‘Somewhere, someone came up with the phrase, ‘The Patriot Way.’ I think they made some money off it. Good for them. Here’s something you should know: The Patriot Way does not exist.’ There you go,’ Shaughnessy wrote. 

Kraft and Belichick parted ways at the end of the 2023 season in what was labeled a mutual decision.

The pair put on a friendly front at Belichick’s farewell press conference and shared a hub. Albeit an awkward one. 

Yet, Kraft’s notable erasure from Belichick’s telling of the Patriots’ dynasty era is enough to suggest the partnership had broken down.

Kraft is also said to have dissuaded friend and Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank from hiring Belichick ahead of the 2024 seasons after the coach was left a free agent following his Patriots split. 

AppleTV+’s ‘The Dynasty: New England Patriots’ documentary, which was released last year and listed ‘Kraft Dynasty LLC 2024’ as the copyright holder, also didn’t shine the best light on Belichick. 

The two shared a frosty reunion at Netflix’s roast of Tom Brady last year, according to Patriots great Julian Edelman. 

While the memorable evening was filled with laughter and most of the guests present, including Edelman and Drew Bledsoe, were in good spirits, the tension between Belichick and Kraft was palpable, according to the former wide receiver.

‘The tension in that room though — could cut f***ing glᴀss,’ Edelman said on his Games with Names podcast alongside guest Bledsoe.

Belichick’s relationship with Brady is also said to have soured towards the end of their reign together before the former quarterback fled from New England to win his seventh and final Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 

Belichick did not coach in the NFL during the 2024 season, instead sitting on the sidelines until accepting the job at the University of North Carolina. 

He will return to the sidelines with the Tar Heels in the 2025 campaign later this year.
