BREAKING NEWSNew Orleans Saints emerge to sign Aaron Rodgers after Derek Carr shoulder injury

Aaron Rodgers could suddenly have another option for the 2025 season in news that will be a major source of concern for the Pittburgh Steelers.

According to Mike Florio, the New Orleans Saints are planning to reach out to the 41-year-old after their quarterback Derek Carr sustained a shoulder injury that could put his 2025 season in doubt.

‘Expect to see a report, sooner than later, that the Saints have reached out,’ Florio said.

‘Whether it goes anywhere remains to be seen. However, New Orleans becomes another option for Rodgers.’

Rodgers is a free agent after leaving the New York Jets. He has visited the Pittsburgh Steelers but not yet agreed terms on a deal, despite the organization having a vacancy at quarterback.

The Saints have a new head coach in Kellen Moore, who departed his role as offensive coordinator at the Philadelphia Eagles after winning the Super Bowl in February.

Rodgers is believed to want to join a team with genuine postseason chances, which would make the Steelers favorite. But if it was that straighforward a move, many imagine it would have already been done by now.

Another option for Rodgers could be retirement, although it would mean that one of the greats of the game calls it a day after a disappointing 2024 campaign.

The Jets ended the season with a 5-12 record, with head coach Robert Saleh fired midway through the campaign.

Aaron Glenn replaced him in the offseason and decided to part ways with Rodgers, with the Jets instead bringing in Justin Fields.

Rodgers was linked with the LA Rams when it looked like Matthew Stafford had an uncertain future with the organization.

But he eventually signed a new deal with the team, while the New York Giants signed Russell Wilson to a one-year deal.
