Fields spent the 2024 season with the Steelers after being traded from the Chicago Bears
Fields spent the 2024 season with the Steelers after being traded from the Chicago Bears and started the first six games of the campaign, amᴀssing a 4-2 record.
Then Pittsburgh made the decision to start a healthy Russell Wilson the rest of the season, with the Steelers falling to the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
Fields was famously pᴀssed over by the Jets four years ago when the team drafted BYU’s Zach Wilson with the second-overall pick. Wilson failed to meet expectations and recently agreed to a backup role in Miami after spending the 2024 season with Denver.
New York now will hope that Fields can revive his career with the Jets, who have a new regime in coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey. Fields will be reunited with wide receiver Garrett Wilson, his former college teammate, in an offense that also includes running backs Breece Hall and Braelon Allen.
Fields has pᴀssed for 7,780 yards and 45 touchdowns with 31 interceptions in 50 games, including 44 starts in four seasons. He has rushed for 2,509 yards and 19 scores.
Meanwhile, 41-year-old Rodgers is still searching for his new home. Ironically, the Steelers appear to be the most likely landing spot for the former NFL MVP.
Monday also marks the first time Fields and co. will get to work under Glenn as the Jets’ new head coach.
