BREAKING NEWSMiami Dolphins star Terron Armstead announces his retirement from football at the age of 33

Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Terron Armstead has decided to retire from football at the age of 33.

Armstead calls it a day after 12 seasons in the NFL in Miami and Louisiana with the New Orleans Saints.

Speaking earlier in the week, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel hinted that Armstead might retire but insisted he has the skills to keep going.

‘We have had an unbelievable amount of conversations about his body and how he feels,’ McDaniel said.

‘I think, tied into that, where he’s at relative to other years and how we can realistically forecast that, I think that’s going to really shape the answer to that question (of retiring).

‘It hasn’t ever been about Terron’s play, right? It’s been about how he’s been available, and he’s been straining to be more available for us than a counterpart would. He’s played through a lot of stuff.’

Armstead played 15 games for the Dolphins last season but Miami failed to make the playoffs.

The Saints picked Armstead 75th in the 2013 Draft after his college career in Arkansas.

He signed for the Dolphins in 2022 on a five-year deal worth up to $87.5m with $43.47m guaranteed.

The Dolphins endured a difficult 2024 campaign with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missing multiple weeks with a concussion sustained in Week 2.

The ended the campaign second in the AFC East to the Buffalo Bills, finishing up with an 8-9 record.
