Steelers host QB prospect Jaxson Dart as Aaron Rodgers waiting game continues

The 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers could be the Steelers’ quarterback next season — but Jaxson Dart may be the answer beyond 2025-26.

The Steelers hosted four NFL draft prospects for top-30 visits on Friday — among them was Dart, according to multiple reports, the former Ole Miss Rebel.

And despite previous reports, head coach Mike Tomlin was at the team facility for the meetings — just as he was for Rodgers.

Dart is widely considered the No. 3 quarterback prospect in this year’s draft and projects as a potential first-round pick.

Pittsburgh has the No. 21 overall pick, but does not, however, own a second-rounder after it elected to trade it to acquire wide receiver DK Metcalf.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Dart interviewed with the Steelers at the combine and Steelers ᴀssistant general manager Andy Weidl attended the Ole Miss pro day last week.

While all indications are that Pittsburgh certainly has its eyes on Dart, the front office is also closely monitoring the quarterbacks expected to be drafted in the later rounds, such as Jalen Milroe, Will Howard, Riley Leonard and Quinn Ewers.

Steelers general manager Omar Khan attended the pro days for each of the four, but Louisville’s Tyler Shough is the only other quarterback aside from Dart that Pittsburgh has hosted for a top-30 visit.

While their eyes may be on Dart in the draft, it was reported earlier this week that the Steelers expect Rodgers to sign with them.

“We keep hearing that he’s headed in our direction,” Steelers owner Art Rooney II said at the NFL owners meeting, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I’d say we feel pretty good about it at this time.”

If Pittsburgh brings in Rodgers and Dart, the veteran would likely handle the starting duties this season while the franchise would hope the youngster develops into a formidable starter for the future.
