Kelly Stafford has addressed her marriage struggles with Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford as the couple approaches 10 years since saying ‘I do.’
The Stafford’s now have four daughters and are living a glitzy Hollywood lifestyle. Kelly opening up on her personal life underscores the daily challenges she faces.
Months ago, Kelly talked about her strategy for dating Stafford’s ‘bad boy’ rival while the two were at Georgia, leading to them dating and living happily ever after.
‘Marriage is f***ing hard,’ Kelly said on ‘The Morning After’ podcast. ‘Anyone who tells you differently is f***ing lying through their teeth.’
Kelly admits that before marriage, ‘you put yourself first all the time.’
‘Now all of a sudden, you’re putting someone else first. There’s kids involved. It just becomes tougher and tougher with the more things thrown your way.’

Matthew and Kelly have four daughters – twins Chandler and Sawyer, 8 years old, Hunter, 6, and the youngest, Tyler, 4.
Kelly has stood by Matthew’s side as the family got upended from Detroit to Los Angeles in 2021 when he was traded from the Lions to the Rams. Stafford also recently took a pay cut to stay in Los Angeles despite interest from other teams.
The quarterback’s wife has also pointed at when in their marriage was the hardest.
‘There’s been so many ups and downs in our marriage. There really has,” Kelly added. ‘I would say the first year of marriage was really, really hard.’
‘When you’re going through it, you’re like, “Why is God doing this to me?” Really, God’s doing it for you.’
Yet, Kelly recognized the couple has shifted their priorities over the years, which may be a good thing.
‘I’m not saying he changed as a person,’ Kelly continued. ‘He’s still the same guy that I’ve always known when it comes to his personality and the way he is with people and stuff like that. But I will say, there was something that I had to adjust to, which was the more crazy, fun Matthew to the professional Matthew.’
