Tom Brady and Bill Belichick take NFL record book hits with recent changes

Tom Brady and Bill Belichick’s places in the NFL record books aren’t going anywhere — but they are being amended.

With the recent inclusion of statistics from the since-defunct All-America Football Conference of the mid-1940s, Brady — a future Hall of Famer who won seven Super Bowls as quarterback of the Patriots and Buccaneers — is now tied with late quarterback Otto Graham for the all-time record for championships won and championship appearances.

Graham was under center for the Cleveland Browns during the club’s time in the AAFC from 1944-49 and won four championships. He added three more тιтles to his resume when the Browns joined the NFL in 1950.

Much like Brady, Graham also boasts a championship record of 7-3 for 10 total appearances.

Brady, 47, began his illustrious NFL career with the Patriots in 2000 and won six Super Bowls with Belichick, 72.

The quarterback then took his talents to Tampa Bay in 2020 and won a championship in his first year with the team.

Brady called it a career in February 2023 after 23 seasons.

Belichick remained at the helm in New England after Brady’s departure, but his championship win total as a head coach stayed put at six. He failed to reach the Super Bowl again during his time with the franchise, which ended in January 2024 after 24 seasons.

That record was usurped this week by former Browns coach Paul Brown, who is now at seven on the all-time list.

He won three тιтles in the NFL and four championships with the AAFC.

Even with the tweaks, Brady and Belichick still hold the records for most Super Bowls won by a player and coach, respectively.

The two are thriving in their post-NFL chapters, with Brady serving as Fox’s lead NFL analyst and Belichick moving to the collegiate ranks as coach of UNC’s football team.
