Taylor Swift facing travel chaos to watch Travis Kelce and the Chiefs' first game next season

Taylor Swift may have to jet overseas for the Kansas City Chiefs’ opening game in the 2025 NFL season.

The NFL is having the Los Angeles Chargers play a Friday night game from Sao Paul, Brazil on September 5 and Kansas City has emerged as a potential dance partner.

According to The Athletic, the potential matchup has been discussed in the past two days during the annual league meeting.

Multiple league sources have told the outlet that the recently-dethroned ex-Super Bowl champions are the No 1 choice to send to the South American nation.

Sources stated that the Chiefs and Chargers are not opposed to the idea of an opening-week AFC West showdown. Similar to last year, when the Philadelphia Eagles took on the Green Bay Packers in Sau Paolo, the game is expected to be televised by either Amazon, Disney+, Netflix, Paramount+, or Peacock.

‘On playing international games, we’re willing to do it whenever the opportunity presents itself,’ Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said Monday. ‘We don’t have a lot of control over that, except periodically with whatever the rotation (of teams scheduled to play overseas) of the league is at where we can be the home team.

‘We make the league aware every year that we would be delighted to play (an international game), whether as a home team or as an away team. We hope, at some point, we’ll get picked back up.’

Apart from international games, the Chiefs have also requested that the NFL make them a Christmas Day fixture, according to a source.

Kansas City has played on Christmas Day for the past two seasons and wants to be a permanent participant in the holiday, the same way the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys are on Thanksgiving.

The sources told The Athletic that the Chiefs are expected to be one of the teams to play on December 25th. This would follow their game against the Steelers last Christmas, which drew 24.1 million viewers across Netflix and local CBS stations.

Hunt added that the Chiefs would play an international game and a holiday game every season to grow their brand.

‘Well, our goal is to be the world’s team,’ Hunt said. ‘That starts with being one of the top teams here in the United States. It’s a credit to our players, some of the personalities that we have on the team, and certainly the success we’ve had the last six years. Our TV ratings have been very high whenever we play.

‘We also have some very special fans (of Swift) who help drive those numbers as well.’
