Six-time Pro Bowler Calais Campbell reunites with Cardinals on one-year contract

Veteran defensive lineman Calais Campbell is returning to where it all started.

Campbell, 38, signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals, the organization he played for through his first nine years after they drafted him in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft, the team announced Tuesday.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the deal is worth $5.5 million and has a max value of $7.5 million.

“What a story it would be! Started my career with a bang. Now it’s time to finish it with a bang back home where it first began!” Campbell wrote on social media after the signing was made official.

Campbell played for the Cardinals up until 2016 and went on to spend three years in Jacksonville, three in Baltimore and one in both Atlanta and Miami.

The defensive lineman won’t be starting, according to ESPN, but rather, he will have packages designed to get him in the action.

He’s coming off a 2024 season where he finished third on the Dolphins with five sacks and second with 12 tackles for a loss while leading all defensive linemen with a 46 percent run-stop win rate.

Campbell was wrapped up in the odd scene outside Hard Rock Stadium last season involving Tyreek Hill when the two Dolphins were detained by Miami-Dade Police before Week 1 after Hill was cited for reckless driving after speeding.

The 38-year-old is entering his 18th NFL season and has been selected to six Pro Bowls over his career.

In 261 career NFL games, Campbell has recorded 110.5 sacks.
