Danica Patrick’s heartbreaking admission about Aaron Rodgers split resurfaces

Danica Patrick's heartbreaking admission about Aaron Rodgers split resurfaces

Danica Patrick’s comments on her devastating split from Aaron Rodgers have resurfaced almost five years since the pair went their separate ways.

The former racing driver spent over two years with Rodgers, who was playing for the Green Bay Packers at the time, before they suddenly called it quits in 2020.

And as the free-agent quarterback weighs up whether to retire from the NFL or sign with a new team this offseason, his ex-girlfriend’s admission about the ‘heartbreak’ of their split have resurfaced online.

Back in 2021, Patrick discussed the end of her relationship with Rodgers while chatting with Bear Grylls during an episode of his ‘Running Wild’ show, revealing it left her ‘broken open’.

‘There’s nothing like heartbreak to really throw you in the deep end,’ she said. ‘As broken open as I was on the sad end, I have felt so much joy in so many more instances and so many more unlikely places than I ever have.

‘It’s like my heart got broken open to both ends of the spectrum.’

After they called time on their romance, Danica revealed she was leaning on friends and family for support and guidance.

‘[My dad is] always super proud of me,’ she shared. ‘My mom, too. My sister. I’m really fortunate that I have a family that’s super supportive. You gotta have someone you can fall apart with, you know?’

Rodgers, who was released by the New York Jets earlier this month, has rarely spoken publicly about his relationship with Patrick.

However, back in 2022 the four-time NFL MVP heaped praise on his ex while insisting he looks back on their romance fondly.

‘I was dating Danica and that relationship was great for me because she is on her own journey and spirituality is important to her,’ he said on the Aubrey Marcus Podcast.

‘We both were finding our way, learning about different things [and] practicing meditation techniques.’

Almost half a decade since their split, Danica appears to have found love again after going public with a new mystery boyfriend back in September. She also enjoyed a brief romance with Carter Comstock, co-founder of meal-prep company Freshly, following the relationship with Rodgers.

The football star, meanwhile, has a mystery new partner named ‘Brittani’ after short-lived flings with Shailene Woodley and Mallory Edens.
