Despite his shocking termination on Tuesday night, former Milwaukee Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin expressed his graтιтude for his short stint with the franchise.

Griffin was fired despite the Bucks holding a 30-13 record, trailing only the first-seeded Celtics in the Eastern Conference. His 43-game stint is the third shortest tenure for a head coach in NBA history.

‘I appreciate the opportunity the Bucks gave me,’ Griffin told Bleacher Report. ‘You can’t control everything. I feel good about the job we did. I appreciate my coaching staff for all their hard work.’

After gaining experience as an ᴀssistant in Milwaukee, Chicago, Orlando, Oklahoma City and Toronto, the Bucks gave Griffin the head coaching position in June.

He replaced Mike Budenholzer who – despite leading the Bucks to an NBA тιтle in 2021 – was fired after losing in a gentleman’s sweep against Miami in the first round of the 2023 playoffs.

Bucks franchise player Giannis Antetokounmpo was reportedly involved with his hiring. However, not long after his arrival, The Greek Freak and other Bucks veterans reportedly lost faith in Griffin’s methods.

‘I always wanted to be a head coach in this league,’ Griffin said. ‘I couldn’t have asked for a better roster. I got to coach Giannis, [Damian Lillard], Khris [Middleton], Brook [Lopez]. Dream come true. Hopefully I get another sH๏τ at it, but overall, I’m just thankful.’

The Bucks named ᴀssistant Joe Prunty as the interim coach as they look to fill the vacancy.

Meanwhile, former Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers has been rumored to have agreed a deal to take charge. Over the course of his career, Rivers has also coached the Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers.

Boasting a 215-111 playoff record, Rivers is best known for winning the NBA тιтle with the Celtics in 2008. Unfortunately, he was fired by the 76ers in 2023 after they fell in the conference semifinals for the third straight season.

The Bucks look to extend their win-streak to three against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night. The fourth-seeded Cavs have won their last eight.
