Draymond Green has admitted he is ‘hurt’ after being left out of Team USA’s plans for the 2024 Olympics, with the troubled Warriors star questioning the official reason for his snub.

USA Basketball last week announced a 41-player selection pool for this summer’s Games in Paris, with the likes of LeBron James, James Harden, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant all included.

Green did not make the cut, with team managing director Grant Hill claiming: ‘We just didn’t feel that playing over the summer gives him the best opportunity to do what he needs to do.’

It comes after Green was given two suspensions over on-court incidents this season. He only recently returned from an indefinite ban for striking Phoenix’s Jusuf Nurkic in the face in December.

Green, who was hoping to compete for a third gold medal this summer, admitted his frustration at how the situation was handled.

‘I wish that (Hill) would have just said that to me. You know especially if you’re going to say that publicly,’ he said on his Draymond Green Show on Monday.

‘So it hurt me a little bit from a fan standpoint as well. I’m a big fan of Grant Hill, and to know there’s been a personal relationship and to tell me to my face that you’re going to need me for the Olympics and then to publicly find out that.’

Green added: ‘If I’m not good enough for that roster, just say I’m not good enough.’

Green won gold with the US at both Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 and he did not hide his sadness at missing out on a chance to win No 3.

‘Disappointed? Yeah, of course,’ he said.

Hill added: ‘His contributions have been significant, and he is a real part of the legacy of this organization for his excellence… but (because) of what’s transpired this year, we made a decision to not have (Green) on this list.’
