Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid was dealt another worrying injury blow on Tuesday night after getting tangled up with Golden State Warriors rival Jonathan Kuminga.

Embiid had played 30 minutes of the contest on his return from another injury, scoring 14 points, when he and teammate Danuel House Jr. attempted to secure a loose ball in the fourth quarter.

Unfortunately for the center, though, the incident saw Kuminga land on Embiid’s left knee, leaving him screaming in agony on the court.

As the commentators speculated whether he had ‘hyper-extended’ his knee, the Cameroonian received treatment on the court, before making his way back to the locker room.

One slight positive for 76ers fans was that Embiid was able to head down the tunnel under his own steam, but it is just the latest injury blow in a difficult season.

Embiid, 29, has already missed 12 games this season, and if he has to sit out five more, he will be ineligible for postseason NBA awards.

It was a knee injury that had forced him to sit the Sixers’ last two games, both of them ending in losses to the Trail Blazers and Nuggets.

He was a late scratch from the latter of those, on Saturday night, which prompted the league to investigate the circumstances of the injury, per ESPN.

He was not listed on any pregame injury reports, but a source claimed he was pulled from the lineup by medical staff because he could ‘barely jump’ during warmups.

The Sixers are 29-17 following Tuesday night’s 119-107 loss to the Warriors, and they sit fourth in the Eastern Conference, 6.5 games back from the leading Boston Celtics.
