Luka Doncic Lakers debut revealed as team gives huge update on new star man

Luka Doncic is expected to debut for the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night against the Utah Jazz at Crypto.com Arena.

The 25-year-old was acquired by the Lakers in a trade that sent All-Star big Anthony Davis to Dallas.

NBA fans woke up to a seismic trade on February 2 when the three-way transaction between the Mavericks, Lakers, and Jazz shifted the plates in the NBA.

Los Angeles received Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris. On the other hand, they shipped Davis with Max Christie and a 2029 first-rounder. Meanwhile, the Jazz swiped Jalen Hood-Schifno and two second-round picks for the upcoming draft.

About a week since arriving in the City of Angels, the Slovenian superstar is expected to make his Lakers debut with new running mate LeBron James.

Doncic has been out since Christmas Day while dealing with a calf strain but sat on the bench during the Lakers’ wins over Golden State and Indiana.

Despite being listed as questionable for their game against Utah, Doncic is expected to suit up in Purple and Gold for the first time.

He has been averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 7.8 ᴀssists per game in his sixth season in the NBA.

Furthermore, he is shooting 46.4 per cent from the field and 35.4 per cent from three-point range in 22 games for the Mavericks.

JJ Redick’s squad sits fourth in the Western Conference with a 31-19 record. The Lakers ride a five-game win streak into their showdown with the Jazz. They are also 9-1 in their last 10 games.

After Monday’s game, they will rematch the Jazz in Salt Lake City on Wednesday before heading into the All-Star break.

Doncic, who led the Mavericks to the NBA Finals last season, left a Dallas team that sits eighth in the Western Conference at 28-25.
