NBA superstar Kevin Durant breaks down in tears as he opens up on representing Team USA at Olympics

Kevin Durant was overcome with emotion as the NBA superstar reflected on his Olympic journey representing Team USA.

The Phoenix Suns forward has won four consecutive gold medals for the all-conquering American team, most recently in Paris in 2024.

The 36-year-old is featured in the new Netflix documentary Court of Gold, which takes viewers behind the scenes with the teams vying for glory last summer.

A clip of Durant, which emerged ahead of the show’s release, has gone viral after it captured his raw reaction to playing for his country.

Durant wiped away tears as his voice broke while he opened up about what it meant to play for Team USA.

‘The game has saved my life,’ he said. ‘It brought me and my family out of a lot of bulls***. I’m just grateful for it. For real…’

Durant added: ‘I come from neighborhoods where people don’t even talk to each other. There’s so much hate in the world, too.

‘When people get to start laughing and joking for the game of ball, it’s cool to me. So, it gets me emotional, dog.’

‘My bad,’ Durant then said as he dipped his head and wiped away more tears.

‘It’s crazy to see people travel so long to come see their favorite player play in the Olympics,’ he continued.

‘They spend their money, they bring their whole family… it’s just dope to me,’ the 36-year old added as he lifted his shirt to dab his eyes.

Durant is one of the greatest NBA players of his generation. He is a 15-time All-Star who has won two NBA championships and was named MVP in 2014.
