Jason Kelce reveals staggering weight loss since NFL retirement

Jason Kelce is taking his weight loss journey to new heights.

Since hanging up his cleats last March following a decorated 13-year career in the NFL, the former center has made no secret of his desire to shed a few pounds.

The Philadelphia Eagles legend previously admitted that he aimed to lose 35 lbs and, over a year since stepping away from the football field, he revealed Wednesday that he has already dropped 20.

But, in order to get down to his target weight, he has stepped up his game. Speaking on New Heights Wednesday, Kelce revealed that he had entered into a compeтιтion with former teammate Beau Allen to see who could lose the most body fat.

In order to establish a fair baseline for the challenge, he underwent a bone density scan for the first time, breaking down the results with brother Travis.

‘There is a lot of fat in there!’ Jason said on the podcast. ‘It’s kind of embarrᴀssing seeing your body broken down like this. Although, I’m not gonna lie. It’s a good calf-to-hamstring ratio, I think.’

‘I’m 276.6 [lbs], according to this scan,’ he continued, revealing his weight.

‘You’ve lost the 30 pounds? That’s crazy,’ Travis interjected, before Jason clarified, ‘I’ve lost 20 pounds, I was never heavier than 300 in the NFL.’

‘Lean mᴀss, 207 pounds of muscle. 58.7 pounds of fat… that’s a lot of fat,’ he continued. ‘According to this metric, it is exactly 21.2 percent body fat.’

‘We’ve got to get that down,’ Travis, who confirmed this offseason that he would be avoiding retirement and suiting up for the Kansas City Chiefs again next season, insisted.

But Jason was already one step ahead of his тιԍнт end brother, having devised his friendly challenge with Allen.

‘This is why you’re still playing football because when you retire you have to do stupid compeтιтions like this to keep your sanity,’ Jason told the three-time Super Bowl winner. ‘So Beau and I are going to try to lose as much body fat percentage as possible in three months.’

The two Eagles legend have devised a point system based on body fat percentage loss and muscle gain to determine the winner.

And the loser’s forfeit has already been agreed too. The unlucky former NFL player will have to wear a Speedo to the Ocean Drive – an event hosted every year for the Eagles Autism Foundation –  in summer.

Jason has previously opened up on his weight loss journey, telling GQ last year that he was already feeling the benefits.

‘Right now, I’m about 277,’ he said last June. ‘… It’s hard to imagine another nearly 20 pounds coming off, being honest with you. But my back already feels better. My knees already feel better. So another 20 pounds hopefully will make that much more adept at playing with my children.’

‘I don’t want to get too small,’ the soon-to-be-father-of-four added. ‘I think a lot of guys, especially offensive linemen, they lose too much weight, and then they look like bobbleheads because their neck gets so small, but their head stays the same size.

‘So for me, I feel like for some reason, 250 to 260 feels like I’ll be still big and be happy with the way I look without having a six-pack. But I’ll still be able to have that stature a little bit.’
