Kevin Durant did not hold back on responding to Skip Bayless after the controversial sports analyst’s hard take on his recent performances.
After the Phoenix Suns’ 149-141 overtime loss to the Denver Nuggets on Friday, Bayless questioned Durant’s willingness to play.
Despite dropping 29 points and nine rebounds in their losing effort, Bayless insisted that the 36-year-old was ‘mentally semi-retired’ on The Skip Bayless Show.
Reposting the former Undisputed host’s take, Durant wrote, ‘F*** it, We’re both washed, it was a great run @RealSkipBayless.’
Bayless lamented that ‘the more I watch him at age 36, the more he looks mentally semi-retired to me.’
After addressing Durant’s participation in a documentary about his life and career, Bayless insisted ‘It feels to me like he’s winding down his basketball. And it’s reflecting in the Suns’ win-loss record.’

Although Durant is still averaging 26.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 4.3 ᴀssists this season, the Suns have been struggling at 30-34. According to Bayless, Phoenix’s lack of defense is the reason for their negative record.
‘They just don’t guard cause they don’t seem to care,’ Bayless said. ‘They look lifeless to me. They are the flipside of the team on top of the West standings. The team Kevin started with.’
‘The Phoenix Suns look like they’re just done to me because Kevin looks like he’s on his last mental legs. He’s not really into it the way he used to be, into it when he went to Golden State.’
‘To me, as gifted as he still is, Kevin’s just going through the motions, and the Suns have set in the West.’
Phoenix are 11th in the Western Conference behind the Dallas Mavericks, who they beat over the weekend. They will remain on the road against fourth-seeded Memphis on Monday.
